As you are most likely preparing for the summer break we would like to inform you of some recent developments in our company and in our industry.

 We're moving office!

photo Oranje Nassaulaan On 15 July we will be moving into our new office in 's-Hertogenbosch. The main reason for this move is that we have been sharing offices with StudyWorld (Netherlands) BV/IDP Netherlands. Since StudyWorld has sold part of its activities to Kilroy Education the offices we share have become too big.

 India Opens Market for Foreign Universities
 Foreign Education Providers Bill Passed

flag India The Union Cabinet in India today unanimously approved the Foreign Education Providers Bill. This bill will allow foreign education providers to set up campuses in India, be it under stricts regulations. Already as far back as 1995 a bill to the same effect was introduced in the Rajya Sabha. The Indian Parliament will most like take a vote on the bill over the summer. Naar boven

 Globalisation of Education and the For-Profit Education Industry

globe Readers of our newsletter are undoubtedly aware that many share the view that internationalization of education is "history" and that we are now entering the era of "globalization" of education. An interesting, recent book on this topic is Ben Wildavsky's "The Great Brain Race: How Global Universities Are Reshaping the World", which addresses the efforts of universities and other providers to capitalize on the changing landscape of education.  China Announces New Education Blueprint 2010-2020

forbidden city Last month, the Chinese government unveiled an ambitious new blueprint for its national educational development in the next ten years, that promises more spending, more access, better quality and less red tape and corruption. The National Outline for Medium and Long Term Education Reform and Development (2010-2020) was in the works for over a year and a half, and included - in typical "democracy with Chinese characteristics" fashion - two rounds of opportunities for the general public to comment on earlier drafts of the policy paper. The Outline addresses just about every aspect of the Chinese education system, from pre-school to university, and from funding to school autonomy, quality, ICT in education and internationalization.
